Leak Detection System Makes Finding Fugitive Emissions Easier


FLIR Systems, Inc. is proud to partner with Pixel Velocity to offer software solutions for remote detection of hydrocarbon leaks. Pixel Velocity’s award-winning automated Leak Detection System (LDS) works in concert with FLIR Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) cameras to scan for escaping gas in remote locations or in critical areas that require continous monitoring.

Pixel Velocity LDS can automatically detect and discover the source of hydrocarbon leaks such as methane in a variety of industrial installations – without any human involvement. This intelligent system can be configured to the user’s specific leak threshold requirements, and boasts a near-zero false alarm rate.

The LDS system is designed to work with both of FLIR's fixed gas detection platforms, the G300a and A6604. These cameras have the same infrared core technology as FLIR’s GF320 handheld gas detection system, which has been designated as the Best System for Emissions Reduction (BSER) by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Remote Monitoring in Action


Remote monitoring offers two main advantages: greater safety and greater insight on leaks and fugitive emissions.

Pixel Velocity’s intelligent asset monitoring is the only visualization solution that supports the seamless integration of operations management. It allows managers to combine remote dispatch into one site, minimize site disruption, and start on repairs faster. In addition, the system can fuse and synchronize data from multiple cameras – meaning you can perform 3D analytics on video data for better insight into what’s happening in a region of interest.

A Class 1 Div 2 housing allows Pixel Velocity’s LDS sensors to operate safely in potential fire zones, reducing the need to send surveyors into hazardous areas. Instead, operators can check areas remotely before entering potentially unsafe conditions.
