Local Heroes: UK Coastguard uses FLIR Cameras in Cliff Rescue
Wednesday, June 8, 2016
A large group of teenagers learned an important lesson about the power of the ocean recently on the coast of Kent, England.
While out for the day, more than 30 teens and two adults descended onto the beach near St Margaret's Bay and Dover from a path but then became stranded when the tide rose and forced them to cling to the cliffs.
The UK Coastguard dispatched a rescue helicopter equipped with a FLIR Star SAFIRE 380-HD camera and three lifeboats in an effort to rescue them. The Coastguard successfully completed their mission and brought everyone to safety.
